Connie Garcia

Gallery & Artist Registry —
Connie Garcia has been metalsmithing for seven years and considers herself a beginner, with so much yet to learn. Her training came from Adult Education Beginning and Intermediate Jewelry classes in 2003 and 2004. She took Silver Casting and Lapidary classes from the same source in 2005 and 2006. She was a student teacher helping the instructors with the new classes of Beginning Silversmithing from 2004-2007. She took an introductory class of Faceted Gemstone Setting from The Clear Creek Academy in 2004, and a hands on seminar on P.M.C. (Precious Metal Clay). She took a semester of Metalsmithing from Front Range Community College in 2006. Currently she attends a Metasmithing class from Clements Adult Education Center in Lakewood, CO, where she works on Design Concepts, Enameling, Stone Setting and Metalsmithing. She worked at the Naja, part time, in Denver selling jewelers supplies. Previous to her metals classes, she collected rocks and gemstones since childhood, and has done bead work for several years.

Connie started her own website in 2008 to show and sell her jewelry and currently (2010) sells jewelry in The Twin Peaks Mall, as well as the Old Firehouse Art Gallery.  All of Connie’s jewelry is handcrafted using mostly genuine gemstones and sterling silver.  She designs all of her pieces and does some lapidary work that she incorporates into her pieces. She likes to incorporate faceted precious and semi-precious gemstones, as well as high grade cabochons.

Connie began collecting rocks as a child, and eventually got into collecting faceted gemstones and cabochons. After her collection grew to a substantial size, she realized she needed to make them into jewelry so she could share her love with those around her.  Her fascination with how something so beautiful could come from dirt, has led her on a wonderful journey. She has enjoyed learning so much about the world we live in and the diverse cultures of the people she has met along the way. She attends shows locally as well as in other states, especially loving the biggest one in the U.S. that is located in Tucson, AZ.  She also rock hounds everywhere she can.
