Artists in Residence
Over Two Decades & Counting
The Artist in Residence (AIR) program is a partnership between the LCA and the St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) that promotes the mutually beneficial relationship between art and academics.
Each year, the SVVSD estimates at least 250 students per school benefit from involvement in the AIR program. These students represent a variety of socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. The Artists in Residence commit to 40 hours of classroom time. Each receives a stipend and money for materials. During their programs, the artists share their skills and knowledge with the next generation. In this setting, students who may not otherwise get the chance are introduced to the world of art, observe artists in action, and participate in the creative process. When the project is complete, students are rewarded with a performance or completed piece of art that they can share with families, other students, and the community. Some students may never have had previous exposure to fine art come away with a finer appreciation of art.
